The only centre of its
kind in Australia, the newly built Jacaranda Place provides an integrated
educational/vocational and mental health treatment service for students aged
from 13 years across Queensland.
A collaborative
partnership between the Department of Education and Children’s Health
Queensland, Jacaranda Place is based at the Prince Charles Hospital campus and
caters to students with complex mental illness requiring support to transition
to regular schooling, and to develop life skills and obtain vocational
training. Specialist care and support is provided to students in the 12-bed
residential program and 10-place day program, in the secure and modern
facilities.
Facilities
Teaching and training
is delivered in fully-equipped spacious classrooms, and specialised facilities
including a training kitchen and café, basketball court, media room and secure
green spaces.
