Our school guidance officers can help
students and parents with a range of services including providing advice on
general schooling as well as counselling on educational, behavioural,
vocational, careers, personal, social, family, mental health and wellbeing
issues.
Our guidance officers work closely
with base schools, students, parents and school staff in supporting transitions
back to base schools. Please contact our guidance officers to make an appointment.
Guidance Officer Mental Health
The
Guidance Officer Mental Health role is a newly-created, specialised role
beginning in 2020, designed to meet the Department of Education's commitment to
ensure that students with chronic health or complex mental health conditions
receive specialised and appropriate educational support at all stages of their
illness. The role of the Guidance Officer Mental Health includes:
- supporting students returning
to school after admission to a mental health treatment program
- supporting students with
complex mental health conditions under the treatment of a mental health
clinician in the community
- building capability among
school staff to support students with complex mental health conditions.
